Ivan Bunin – Correspondent of the Kievlyanin Newspaper (1892–1894)

This article considers one of the least studied episodes in I. A. Bunin’s biography. This episode is connected with the writer’s journalistic activity at the end of the 19th century. Despite the lack of information about the writer’s business and creative ties with the daily socio-political and literary newspaper Kievlyanin (1864–1919), the authors of the article tried to reconstruct the circumstances of Bunin’s cooperation in this publication in 1892–1894 and identify the reports that Bunin sent from Poltava to the Kievlyanin newspaper, where they were published anonymously. The difficulties that the authors of the study encountered in the process of identifying these texts – mainly because of the lack of documentary evidence about their range of problems and publication dates – made it necessary to develop a special attribution technique. The essence and results of the application of this technique are also presented in the article.
