The work is focused on the analysis of peculiarities of scantily explored genre of Russian literary utopia. Its origin dates to the XVIII century under the influence of long European tradition, but it is more than an imitation of classical pattern like More‘s «Utopia». Russian literary utopia develops in the spirit of national Russian literature and lays stress on the ethical values in traditional utopian search for the best form of government.
