The changes in professional journalistic cultures are described in this article. Brief review of journalists' studies conducted in the USSR is done. This lets make comparisons and see the portrait of modern journalist in historical prospective. On the base of empirical data author describes the perception of professional roles and duties spread among media professionals in a broad international context.
