Author analyses logic and functional aspects of the «pluralism — dialogue — consensus» dynamic system in the public sphere and the role of journalists in the promotion of public debate. The paper is focused on the mediatization of religious values and the role of journalists in the process. The journalists’ ignorance of the religious initiative to discuss basic national values indicates the dysfunction in dialogue management in Russia and corruption of local journalistic culture.
