In this paper author for the first time attempts to reveal objective and subjective factors of strengthening of ideological dictatorship of the Communist Party (VKP) during the post-war period. The special attention is given to propaganda campaign in the soviet press after VKP Central Committee decision “About magazines Zvezda and Leningrad” (August, 1946). This campaign had large-scale, systemic character and concerned the majority of the printed media.
