The Content Model of a Successful Popular Science Magazine (a Case Study of the Populyarnaya Mekhanika Magazine)

The paper presents the results of a research into the content model of the Populyarnaya Mekhanika magazine, one of the most sought after popular science print publications in Russia. Drawing on the analysis of the issue structure and the content analysis of the magazine the author concludes that the content model of the publication corresponds to its mission and the interests of the target audience, which is expressed in the thematic scope of the publication, the specifics of its team of authors, information sources and their geographical location and also in the genre diversity of the materials. In addition, the paper considers some elements of the magazine’s design.
